The WB hit, Everwood, is making waves on the tube for confronting serious topics such as teen pregnancy and drug use. Set in the Rocky Mountains of Everwood, CO, the show focuses on the emotional relationship between a father and son (played by Gregory Smith). Learn more about Gregory and the rest of the young Everwood cast!

Gregory Smith

Birthdate: July 6, 1983
Birthplace: Toronto, ON

Gregory Smith landed his first role at the age of six in the movie, Andre. Although he went on to appear opposite Mel Gibson in The Patriot and alongside Irish hottie Colin Farrell in American Outlaws, he still considers his breakout role to be when he played Sport in Harriet the Spy. Now starring as Ephram Brown on Everwood, Gregory stretches himself as an actor to play the character, who he describes as intense and complicated. Playing such a serious character can be emotionally draining, so during his downtime, he relaxes by going rock climbing, playing soccer and rollerblading.

  • Gregory Says... "I'm kinda like a big dork so I'm always using cheesy pickup lines, but if you can make them laugh, well..."
  • Emily VanCamp

    Birthdate: May 12, 1986
    Birthplace: Port Perry, ON

Emily VanCamp is a girl of many talents. She loves photography and horseback riding, and has been performing as a dancer since she was three. When her older sister was cast as a ballerina in a film, Emily fell in love with acting while visiting the set. It wasn't long before she began to pursue her own acting gigs. When she was 13, she portrayed the young Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the TV miniseries Jackie O: A Life Story, and she recently finished filming The Ring 2 with Naomi Watts. As the sensitive Amy Abbott on Everwood, she's dating Ephram, but in real life, Emily says she's given up looking for a boyfriend due to the pressures of being in the spotlight.

  • Emily Says... "At a party, I am the kind of girl who will wait until the end of the night before I really get going. I'm a little anti-social at first, but I'm not immune to dancing on tables either."

It included a lot of mature themes and it really connects with today's older youth. You mean violence wise? Not just that, but the show tells the stories of the characters finding themselves. Take Asami for example. A lot of people have a late relative and another relative involved in some kind of trouble. She had her relationships AND family business to take care of, which relates to some of today's youth who feel like they have the whole world on their shoulders. They're starting to have to take responsibility for things they can hardly manage, and seeing the triumph of a character like Asami is truly inspiring. Her mother's dead, her father's in prison, her boyfriend was stolen from her, and her business nearly failed. But she did not give up, which sends a positive message to today's generation of teens. Mako was not stolen from Asami he just chose Korra and everyone knows that thats what people wanted. As messed up as that sounds its the truth.
