First Daughter DVD Review

Dec 27, 2006

Being the President's daughter could certainly have its benefits, but for Samantha Mackenzie it's just a big pain the butt. Constantly being followed around by Secret Service agents, pictures being snapped of you every waking hour of the day and TV show hosts making fun of you 24/7 can get a little overwhelming after a while. So find out how she handles the pressure with Kidzworld's review!

First Daughter - Presidential Seal of Approval

In true Katie Homes style, she plays a sugary-sweet character - Sam Mackenzie, the President of the United States' daughter. Sam has headed off to college and is trying desperately to please her parents during a tough election year while tyring to win over her new classmates, all at the same time. This proves to be harder than she thought! But, with the help of her in-your-face roommate, Mia Thompson, Sam might just make a name for herself (and not just cuz she's the president's daughter). There are frat parties, all-nighters and romance in the air as Sam finds herself falling for her super-hot Resident Advisor, James.

First Daughter - Secret Service Slip Ups

If you don't already know it, First Daughter is pretty much the exact same story as Mandy Moore's flick, Chasing Liberty. The only difference is that Chasing Liberty takes place in Europe and First Daughter takes place in the States. You would hope that First Daughter would have something a little extra to make it stand out from Chasing Liberty, but the truth is, it doesn't. The story often drags and Katie's so sweet, she could give you a tooth ache.

First Daughter - DVD Features

Listen to commentary from all three of the flicks stars - Katie Holmes, Marc Blucas and Amerie Rogers - on the DVD. You can also check out a making of the choreography feature or watch some of the deleted scenes. However, the movie was pretty painful, so unless you're a huge Katie Holmes fan, you'll probably want to skip the extras.

First Daughter - Bottom Line

First Daughter has its cute moments but it really can't compete with the flick with the same story, Chasing Liberty. If you're looking for a Katie Holmes fix, you might be better off grabbing the fourth season of Dawson's Creek on DVD.
