Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper DVD Review

Princess Anneliese and her cat Serafina!

Based on The Prince and the Pauper, the classic tale by Mark Twain, this beautifully animated musical stars none other than Barbie - playing two roles! It's no surprise- Barbie has always been such a multi-tasking career girl!

Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper - Different Worlds

Princess Anneliese lives the life most girls dream of. She lives in a beautiful palace in the mountains, attends the most luxurious balls and wears gorgeous gowns. However, she dreams of a life of freedom from her daily commitments and longs to get away from the pressure to marry King Dominick. Anneliese's look-alike, Erika, is a peasant girl who lives in the village near the palace and longs for a life without struggle.

Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper - The Adventure

When Anneliese's tutor, Julian, disguises her and takes her to explore the village, she meets Erika. The two girls are identical, except Anneliese is blonde and Erika is a brunette. When Anneliese is kidnapped by the evil Preminger, Erika must disguise herself as Anneliese to help bring her home. Little does King Dominick know, but he's fallen in love with Erika!

Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper - DVD Features

Disc one on this two-disc set contains the film, followed by some funny "bloopers" of the animated characters. Also included are a sing-along feature with lyrics, a song menu, an interactive Fairytopia feature, movie trailers and previews. The second CD includes seven original tracks from the film, featuring Anneliese and Erika's heart-warming duet, I'm Just Like You.

Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper - The Bottom Line

The original story goes with the theme that we all feel at one point or another in our lives - that the grass is always greener on the other side. This version is so sugary sweet that you might find yourself getting a toothache, but if you're a Barbie fan, this is flick for you!

Barbie Sings! The Princess Movie Song Collection
Just in case you can't get enough of Barbie, this collection includes songs from The Princess and the Pauper, The Nutcracker, Rapunzel and Swan Lake. It's the perfect soundtrack for any princess!

Barbie as The Princess and the Pauper - The Dolls
No, they don't come with the DVD... but you have a chance to win them by visiting the Kidzworld Top Toy Countdown! Wearing a beautiful pink gown and royal crown, Princess Anneliese comes with her pampered cat, Serafina. She even sings duets with her friend, Erika, the peasant maiden dressed in a pretty, floral gown. Both dolls include a perfume bottle, brush, comb, and mirror.

    • Great! Her new Aussie boyfriend, Blaine, can teach her how to surf!
    • Nice move, but she should have stayed single for a while!
    • Bad move! Ken is the love of her life!

I feel like girls love handlebar mustaches because they're weird and unique.  Girls don't have them and the only guys that do are hipsters.  They're not seen often which makes them special

Eh neither for me its the personality not looks. Would you rather be famous for something humiliating or famous for something completely disgusting and self-destructing?
