Avatar: The Last Airbender Cartoon Show Facts

In a fantasy land, the nations of Earth and Water are battling the powerful Fire nation! Their best warriors use elemental martial arts powers called Bending, that let them unleash powerful moves. But, they need the Avatar, master of all four elements, to save them from being wiped out like the Air nation. Suddenly the young Aang is found frozen in a block of ice. He's the last Airbender and the Avatar, all rolled into one, bald bundle! Check out the heroes, the zeroes and what's up with this cool cartoon!

  • Aang - This bald dude just spent 100 years stuck in an icecube and now he's supposed to master all four elements and save the world!
  • Katara - This young Waterbender found Aang. She's big on courage but small on power.
  • Sokka - Katara's brave bro has wisecracks instead of Waterbending powers.
  • Appa - It's a bird, it's a plane, it's... a flying bison? This fuzzy fella was frozen with Aang and now he flies him around the world, like a giant flying bus.
  • Momo - Got lemur? This flying critter is Aang's friend and has about as much magic power as a potato. But he's cute!
  • Avatar Roku - The last Avatar has been dead for 100 years, now he's a spirit and helps Aang when he can.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Main Characters - The Villains

  • Uncle Iroh - Zuko's uncle was a retired Fire nation commander but he's back in action now. At least he has a sense of humor.
  • Zhao - This powerful Firebender is a high-ranking military officer who's trying to catch Aang, and Prince Zuko too!
  • Fire Lord Ozai - The ruler of the fire nation! He wants to crush the other nations and win the war this year.
  • Azula - Prince jerko's sister is an even nastier person than he is!

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”
