Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quickstrike Card Game Review
Courtesy of Upper DeckThe Avatar: The Last Airbender anime show brings the elemental adventures of Aang and his friends to life in their very own TV show. It's a cool cartoon where the four empires, Earth, Air, Fire and Water, battle using Benders who can use the elements to unleash crazy martial arts attacks. Now the Avatar anime has a card game that lets you battle as your fave Benders from the show! Here's our review.
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Bending & Dueling Basics
The game is all about
martial arts battles and
powerful elemental attacks! You build a
deck with
Strike cards to attack your opponent and
Advantage or
Ally cards to
power 'em up. You get
energy cards to power your moves, the stronger the move, the more energy it takes. Your opponent gets three tries to block each strike or you score a hit -
three hits and you win!
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Dueling and Kicking Pirate Butt!
The biggest dose of
butt-kick-itis this game has is how
fast it is to play, and how it really feels like you're launching way-cool
Bending attacks against your opponent! The
Starter Deck is also a solid plastic box that holds two
decks and the rules. Another cool thing is that the
Avatar card game uses the new
Quickstrike dueling system, which is going to be used by lots of other
card games, including the upcoming
Pirates of the Caribbean card game! So, if you can play
Avatar, you'll be able to play a bunch of card games, or even duel Benders against
pirates!
Avatar: The Last Airbender - Getting Bent
The biggest
problem with the Avatar card game is the
Chamber cards - these cards represent the
Bender you're
dueling with. The problem with them is that each one has
different powers, but lots of them
look the same unless you open them up. So, once you have a bunch, it gets crazy trying to keep track of them.
Avatar & Quickstrike - 'Da Bomb or a Bomb?
This game
kicks butt! The duels are
awesome, you can get info on new
Benders that will show up in the
Avatar anime before they appear, and the
Quickstrike game system lets you play more than just one
card game. Schweeet!
Avatar Card Game Thumbs Up:
Wicked dueling system!
The Starter Set is awesome for storing cards.
Quickstrike = Pirates of the Caribbean = pirate vs. ninja duels! Yarrr!
Meet new Benders before they appear on the Avatar show.
Avatar Card Game Thumbs Down:
Hard to keep track of the Chamber cards.
