Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior DVD Review
Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior - Destiny Awaits
Wendy Wu is the most popular girl in high school. She has a perfect boyfriend, she has the best fashion sense and she's a shoo-in for Homecoming Queen. What more could a girl ask for? Unfortunately for this teen queen, her world's about to be turned upside down when she finds out she is actually an ancient warrior in waiting!
Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior - Ancient Traditions
Despite her Chinese heritage, Wendy (and the rest of her family), hasn't ever paid attention to where she came from. Stories her grandmother attempted to pass on have fallen on deaf ears because Wendy's been too busy gossiping about boys and shopping at the mall. But when a mysterious Chinese monk arrives on her doorstep bearing news of an ancient evil spirit that is about to attack, Wendy is forced to start paying a lot closer attention to her culture.
Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior - Evil Spirits
Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior is a movie with a cool premise, but it doesn't exactly deliver it in the best possible way. You can see that the flick is trying to get a message across about the importance of remembering who you are and learning your heritage, but the message gets a little bit lost when Wendy spends more time trying to turn her mentor monk into an American teen than she does training to become a warrior.

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior - Bottom Line
Fans of martial arts, and of Brenda Song, will dig the Disney Channel movie, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior. The movie's heart is definitely in the right place, but the story never has Wendy completely embracing her Chinese roots, which would have made it a lot better. Even though the message gets muddled, viewers will hopefully still get that it's cool to embrace your culture - whether that's Chinese, German, Brazilian or anywhere else your family may be from!
