Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game: Tactical Evolution Set Review

Courtesy of Upper Deck
Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game players just got a boost with the extra-large Tactical Evolution set! It's packed with snakes, poison, dragons, E-Heroes, gods and new combos for the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game! With 90 cards, and a bunch of stuff from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX TV show, there's a lot going on in this set and we have the 411 on it for you with Gary's Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG review.
Snakes, Poison, Gods and Dragons
This set has a bunch of new stuff in it, partly because it's a
super-sized set with
90 new cards! Here's what you'll get out of
Tactical Evolution.
Cocoons - Weak monsters that can Special Summon Neo-Spacian monsters.
E-Heroes - Lots of new cards to power-up E-Hero decks!
Gemini - Summon a monster, then use your next Normal Summon to power it up!
Rainbow Dragon - The ultimate Gem Beast monster is printed on a special hologram card.
Snakes - New reptile monsters and a Venom Field Magic Card that weakens your opponents
Snake Gods - The ultra-powerful and ultra-rare Vennominaga and Vennominon have arrived!
Powerful Cards and Combos!
This set has a heap of
E-Hero,
Alien and
Neo-Spacian cards. It also introduces new
Venom cards that weaken your opponent's creatures, especially if you manage to get
Vennominon or
Vennominaga - the super-rare snake gods!
Crystal Beast decks get the
Rainbow Dragon, a super-powerful monster with up to
11,000ATK! The
Gemini monsters are ho-hum when you summon them, but you can summon them a second time to power them up. Finally, there are
10 cards in this set that have never been seen before - not even in Japan!
Sucking so Hard It Tears Your Socks Off
Cocoons. Why? They're
weak creatures that need another card before you can use their ability to
transform into other weak creatures. Lame! The fact that 10 cards in the set are
super-duper rare is frustrating too. Finally, the
Rainbow Dragon is so
hard to summon there needs to be a special
medal for players who do it.
Full of Win or Lose?
The new
Venom deck strategy is very interesting, and there are lots of
E-Hero deck boosters. However, the cocoons are useless and there are a lot of cards that are hard to use well!
Tactical Evolution is decent, but doesn't really have anything
super cool unless you get one of the
super-uber-mega-holycow rare cards.
Thumbs Up:
Venom decks - a cool new strategy.
Venominaga and Venominon - super-powerful snake god cards!
Gemini monsters get powered-up.
Lots of E-Hero cards.
Thumbs Down:
The cocoons are useless!
10 cards so hard to get they aren't even listed!
A bunch of really hard to use cards.
