How to Shave Facial Hair

Do you have hair growing on your face? Wondering what to do about it? Do you go clean shaven? The rugged scruff? Or the hardcore mountain man? It all depends on how much hair's growing on your face and what suits your style. Some of us only have a few whiskers here and there, while others have a lot more to work with (or get rid of). You may have to shave daily, while others can get away with a touch-up once a week - or once a month. Whatever your shaving situation, here's a look at some shaving tools and tips on how to use 'em.

Razors

If you decide to shave some or all of the hair on your face, you're going to need a razor. You can get yourself a regular razor and buy new blades whenever they get dull, or buy disposable ones and just chuck 'em when you're done. Whatever you use, make sure the blade is new and sharp, or else you could end up with all sorts of nicks and cuts. It doesn't look too cool to wander around the halls at school with a bleeding face or with pieces of toilet paper dangling from your skin.

Using shaving cream or shaving gel is also a good idea. It's much better than just using soap because it makes it easier to pull the razor across the skin. But most importantly, take your time. If you treat it like a race, you'll end up looking like you just got in a scrap with Wolverine. Remember to shave with the grain, not across. If you've got questions, ask your older brother or your dad.

Electric Shavers

Some people really like the electric shaver, especially when they're starting out. With an electric shaver, there's much less chance you'll end up cutting your face, but you probably won't get quite so close a shave. And sometimes the electric ones really tug at your skin.

Straight Blades

A straight blade shave is probably the closest shave you'll ever get. But, a word of caution here from your pals at Kidzworld - don't use the straight blade! If you slip up, you could end up with a major flesh wound rather than just a nick. That's part of the reason why hardly anyone uses straight blades anymore.
