EA's Celebrity Sports Showdown is packed with celebrities but what about fun? Find out with our game review!

EA has crammed ten celebrities into a box and is shipping them to your home so you can play with them! Celebrity Sports Challenge is a goofy sports game for the Wii with Avril Lavigne, LeAnn Rimes, Fergie, Nelly Furtado, Keith Urban, Paul Pierce, Kristi Yamaguchi, Mia Hamm, Reggie Bush and Sugar Ray Leonard waiting to play in 12 events. Here's the scoop on the fun factor with our Celebrity Sports Showdown game review!

Superstars, Rock Stars and You

Celebrity Sports Challenge is pretty simple - it gives you a bunch of cartoony celebrity characters and twelve games. You pick your favorite celeb character, or one of the non-celeb characters you start with or can unlock, and play a sports challenge. Each game has a batch of simple controls to let you climb, paddle, fly, bash or whatever your way to victory. There's room for up to four players, tournaments with trophies and, as you play, you'll score lots of records for the Hall of Fame.

Trophies and Triumphs

This game is a great way to hit the couch with some family and friends for a dose of goofy fun. The games are easy to play, tournaments let you battle for trophy glory and watching the cartoon versions of the different celebrities play games is funny. There are even a few games *cough*curling*cough* that are perfect for parents, or even really cool grandparents. Plus, a chance to bop your least favorite celeb in the nose with a foam club = priceless.

Sour Notes and Clumsy Controls

Sketchy controls make a few of the games awkward, and the celebrities don't really do anything other than look like cartoon versions of themselves. The biggest problem is that while some games are easy, others will leave you in last place over and over again.

And the Champion Is...

With twelve games, ten celebs and some fun multiplayer options, Celebrity Sports Showdown is solid. It isn't for the super-competitive and a few things are a pain, but it's easy to play and has something fun for everybody - even your parents.

Thumbs Up:

  • Ten celebrities to play as, with or to totally pwn!
  • Easy to play, even for parents.
  • Multiplayer mayhem!
  • A mix of games to test your skill and strategy.

  • Thumbs Down:

  • Wonky controls make some games tricky.
  • Expect to lose a LOT at some games.

  • Game Rating: 4

    Available for: Wii.

The first game came out in 1991  ;) Anyway, I love Sonic! I stink at the games though lol My favorite characters are Knuckles and Charmy And I agree that this is the best single-player game ever!

At least you aren't restricted to TTC/or be only able to try the 3-day trial.  We're actually very lucky now; nonmembers don't give Disney a lick of money. I think Toontown is very different from Club Penguin.  It has a full plot and it's 3-Dimensional.  Also, you don't really do all that much in Club Penguin other than chat and do some mini-missions.  Also, the games were targeted to a different audience... and I feel that Toontown has more memories than Club Penguin; though that may be a bit biased as I don't really have any friends on Club Penguin (LOL), don't really play anymore anyway.

It's like club penguin, I've played it before and you have to pay for almost everything.
