Go Play: Lumberjack :: Wii Game Review
This wood cutting, tree climbing, and log driving game is great for hacking away at the small hours.
Hack and Grind
There are over 15 games and each comes with several modes, but you will need to unlock most of them. Luckily, the unlocks occur quickly and the vast majority of the games are fun to play anyways so you will be unlocking things like crazy.
Aside from the games and their modes, there are also various characters to unlock. You start with a simple guy and girl lumberjack, as well as a ninja and an awesome pirate that plugs in a chainsaw where his hook normally goes. The voices and music is nice and not too annoying. You can even skip most of the animations once you get bored of them.
A Simple Job
The game has a free play mode, where you can pick what game and mode you want to play, and a tournament mode, where the game will choose several different games at random and you can compete for the gold with the computer or other players.
There is log driving, where you need to stay balanced on a log or run across several logs to collect coins. There is also axe throwing, where you point to hurl an axe at various targets. And, of course, there is lots of different kinds of cutting games where you will chop and slice wood in different ways.
The normal controls for the game are excellent. There is also a secondary control for most games that uses the balance board, but this is usually the poorer choice as it makes the game harder and less fun. If you love mini-games, pick up this title and stick with the normal Wiimote controls!
