Art Imitating Life

Nikki grew up with an older brother in what she describes as a complicated home life. Her parents divorced when she was two, and when Nikki entered her teen years she turned from a shy [KWLINK 19449]bookworm into a rebel who suddenly veered down a rough road.

Making A Movie

All the real drama paid off when Nikki and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke teamed up to write the film Thirteen in 2003. It was a shocking view of growing up as a young girl, and it put Nikki and co-star Evan Rachel Wood on the map as young actresses with some serious skills. Since then Nikki has battled being type cast as a bad girl, appearing in Lords of Dogtown and a handful of other movies and landing a recurring role on The O.C.

Teaming Up Again

Nikki and director Hardwicke teamed up again in Twilight, of course, and fans were shocked that Nikki, a brunette, won the role as blonde Rosalie. Nikki even wrote an open letter to Twilight fans thanking them for their support during the controversy, and it seems to be all good since everyone is excited to see her continue her rivalry with Kristen Stewart in New Moon and Eclipse.
