The Vampire Diaries: Season 2, Episode 22 :: As I Lay Dying

May 11, 2011

Bitten

Damon is beginning to accept his fate after being bitten by Tyler. But, Stefan isn’t so easy to give up. After seeing Rose suffer through her werewolf bite, Damon is desperate to avoid the same pain. Stefan locks Damon in the house so he can’t try anything stupid while Stefan searches for a solution. He recruits Bonnie to help him find a cure, but she says he must first find Klaus.

Katherine helps him locate Klaus, but he is reluctant to help Stefan. Turns out, Klaus’ blood is the cure to a werewolf bite. But he won’t just give it up to Stefan. He will only help Damon if Stefan accepts his former self and joins Klaus on the dark side. After drinking gallons of blood, Klaus finally gives Katherine a vial of his blood and tells her to deliver it to Damon – if Stefan agrees to join Klaus’ entourage and leave town with him.

Resurrection

After learning that her daughter is a vampire, Caroline’s mom sets a plan in motion to stop all of the vampires in Mystic Falls. She shows up at the Salvatore mansion and tries to get to Damon, but instead he attacks her and escapes the house. Sherriff Forbes tracks him down, but accidentally shoots Jeremy instead of Damon when he jumps out of the way. Since Caroline’s mom is a human, Jeremy’s ring won’t protect him. Heartbroken, Bonnie takes Jeremy back to the witch’s burial site and tries to get the witch’s to bring Jeremy back to life. They don’t want to help her, and tell Bonnie there will be consequences if she brings him back to life.  Jeremy is resurrected, but with a little twist: he can now see the dead.

True Love’s Kiss

With Damon crawling towards death, Stefan tells Elena about his werewolf bite. Upset, she searches Mystic Falls looking for him. She tries to help him feel better, but is useless until Katherine shows up with the vial of Klaus’ blood. Damon, thinking he is about to die, tells Elena how he really feels – that he loves her and wants to be together. Instead of her usual response, she kisses him. Finally! Katherine tells them that Stefan has left town with Klaus, leaving room for Damon and Elena to finally be together.

Will they be the new couple next season? Did Stefan really turn evil?  Only time will tell. Stay tuned for season three of The Vampire Diaries.

Many of the reviews and critics say it's bad because they are only looking at it from 'comic to movie' perspective. It was still a really cool movie and you should go see it. I'd have to agree with this. The movie itself was great. I think some people looked at it poorly because they were expecting something more similar to the older films or comparing it too hard to the comics. I personally think that it was a great way to reinvent some of the characters.

"It's so hard to talk when you want to k-ll yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint-it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.” Ned Vizzini, "It's Kind of a Funny Story"

“Isn't there something in living dangerously?' There's a great deal in it,' the Controller replied. 'Men and women must have their adrenals stimulated from time to time.' What?' questioned the Savage, uncomprehending. It's one of the conditions of perfect health. That's why we've made the V.P.S. treatments compulsory.' V.P.S.?' Violent Passion Surrogate. Regularly once a month. We flood the whole system with adrenin. It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.' But I like the inconveniences.' We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.' But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.' In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence. I claim them all,' said the Savage at last. Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”
