American Idol: Season 11, Week 2 :: Audition #4 and #5

Jan 26, 2012

This week on American Idol (Season 11, Episode 4), the judges head to the blistery Aspen, Colorado, for the first time in 11 seasons. Read Kidzworld’s recap of “Audition #4” which aired on January 25, 2012, to discover what you missed.

Audition #4: Aspen, Colorado

American Idol is really stepping out of the box this season with their audition locations. This week they toured to Aspen, Colorado, where they met an interesting group of contestants. First up was hyperactive, elementary school music teacher Jenni Schick, who walked away with a golden ticket and a kiss on the lips from Steven Tyler.

We also met 28-year-old Curtis Gray, who had a strange facial resemblance to actress Jessica Biel; 18-year-old flower child Haley Smith; 17-year-old country singer Shelby Tweten, who gave T.M.I (too much information!) when she talked about her bipolar disorder (was that really necessary?); and 19-year-old Jairon Jackson, who wrote an original song for the judges. But even Aspen delivered a few weirdoes, including 25-year-old Lady Gaga wannabe Angie Zeiderman, who almost didn’t make the cut when she opened with a terrible show tune; and Magic Cyclops (need I say more?).

Audition #5: Galveston, Texas

In Texas, the judges were at odds. J-Lo fought the boys tooth and nail on many of the contestants' talent. Some of the highlists included 17-year-old Skylar Laine, who wants to use her Idol winnings to keep her family's business running; 21-year-old Baylie Brown, who made it to Hollywood when she was 16; 28-year-old Ramiro Garcia, who was born with ears; and single mom Kristine Osorio.
