Pokémon Trading Card Game :: The Best Cards in Plasma Freeze Part One

May 22, 2013

The recent release of the Plasma Freeze expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game is a very important set since it will be the set used for the National and World tournaments. We will not get a new expansion set until after the World tournament is over. There are lots of powerful cards in Plasma Freeze that you should look out for when trading and buying booster packs.

Team Plasma on the Rise

Team Plasma Pokémon were first introduced in the previous set, Plasma Storm. These cards have a blue border and a Team Plasma Crest. Plasma Freeze features several cards that make joining Team Plasma seem very appealing. First is Team Plasma's Deoxy EX, which has a Pokémon Ability that gives all other Team Plasma Pokémon plus 10 on their damage. The best part is that you can play several Deoxy EX and add up the effect, meaning you can do an extra 40 damage every turn!

Partners in Crime

In the Plasma Freeze set, there are two really good partners for Deoxy EX. The first is Thunderus EX, which is another Team Plasma Pokémon. Thunderus EX has one energy attack that does 30. This means that, if you have all your Deoxy EX cards in play, Thunderus EX can do 70 damage for just one energy! Additionally, the attack has a bonus effect that allows you to take any energy card from your discard, including special energies, and attach them to your Team Plasma Pokémon.

Team Plasma's Kyurem is another good partner. It is a non-EX, meaning it will only give up one prize when it is knocked out, but it can dish out a lot of damage with the help of Deoxy EX. It's first attack does 30 damage to the defending Pokémon and an additional 30 damage to a benched Pokémon. Kyurem's second attack does 120 damage. Combine that with Deoxy EX and the Hypnotoxic Laser item card with Virbank City Gym Stadium card from Plasma Storm and you can knock out an EX Pokémon with 180 HP in a single attack!
