Just Married Movie Review

Just Married takes real-life couple Brittany Murphy and Ashton Kutcher, marries them, throws in a jealous ex-boyfriend and sends them all to Europe. Does this movie turn out to be a good show or, like the honeymoon, a total catastrophe? Read on for our 411...

Brittany Murphy plays Sarah McNerney. Sarah is a Beverly Hills richie who, while taking her very ugly pup for a run on the beach, gets hit in the head by a football thrown by Ashton Kutcher's lower-class character, Tom Leezak. Despite their less-than ideal meeting, Sarah and Tom totally hit it off and end up moving in together. Shortly after, they marry and head to Europe on their honeymoon. It's on their honeymoon, after a series of disasters that include lighting a hotel on fire and their car being rammed off a cliff, that Sarah and Tom realize they didn't know each other as well as they thought.

The jokes in this film are cute and will make you laugh out loud. How can you not laugh when an old lady rams their car off a cliff and gives them the bird? Or when Tom turns into a girlie-man over a cockroach? However, the plot gets a little sketchy on the details. Sure, Sarah's fam hates Tom, but did they send her hottie ex and family friend Peter Prentis, played by Christian Kane, to break them up or did he decide to do that on his own? Also, the ending - although sweet and moving - is a little too simple. Still, Ashton Kutcher really shines in this role and proves he's got more going on than his ability to play looks-obsessed Kelso from That '70s Show. Christian Kane rocks as the suave, yet slimy, Peter and Brittany is a joy as Sarah "Pee Wee" McNerney. Oh yeah, and the brief but hysterical scenes between Tom and Sarah's dog are worth the price of admission alone.
