1Hey Coach,
I want to find a good and fun cardio workout that is safe for me, so I can lose weight. Do you have any ideas?

Hey drummerchik4,
Before you begin any sort of cardio workout program, it's always a good idea to talk to your P.E. teacher or doctor to make sure the program is safe. If you're not used to doing regular cardio workouts, it's important to start slowly, doing maybe 20 minutes a day, and then work your way up to a faster pace.

Here are a few ways to get a fun and safe cardio workout.

  • Go For A Walk - A good brisk walk, even for just 20 minutes, is a great place to start your cardio workout. It's even more fun if you have a friend, sibling or a pet to take with you. If you live in a cold or rainy climate, walking might not be the most enjoyable, but it's still an easy and safe way to get your cardio workout.
  • Kickboxing - Take some kickboxing lessons! Kickboxing is a sport that can give you a safe cardio workout, as well as improve your flexibility, balance and ability to kick butt! Talk to your P.E. teacher or someone at your local community center for more info on kickboxing programs.
  • Hip Hop Dancing - Shaking your booty can be a healthy and safe cardio workout. Dance along to a hip hop dance video or see about taking hip hop dance lessons. You may not get a bod like Usher or Janet Jackson overnight, but you'll be having fun and improving your fitness level.
  • Jump Rope - Jumping rope is a cardio workout you can do by yourself or with a group of friends. Jumping rope can give you as much of a cardio workout as running on a treadmill and you'll probably have more fun.
  • Dance Dance Revolution - I'm not a big fan of [KWLINK 3842[b]DDR but it can be a fun way to get a workout, especially if you live in a cold-weather climate and don't get much chance to exercise outside. Playing this dance video game with the stomp pad for 30 minutes can be a healthy and fun cardio workout.
  • Do you need tips or advice on sports, fitness or health? to the Kidzworld Coach. Keep in mind peeps, the Kidzworld Coach isn't a doctor or a professional athlete or anything like that. He's just a dude who digs sports, plays 'em and knows a lot about 'em. You should always talk to your 'rents, a doctor or your school gym teacher before starting a new sport or a new exercise.
