Ryan Cabrera Interview

He's been playing music for years, but it wasn't until he set out on his own that Ryan Cabrera really got noticed. Sindy had the opportunity to sit down with Ryan to chat about his latest CD, Take it All Away, his acting future and of course, ex-girlfriend, Ashlee Simpson. Read on to hear what he had to say!
Sindy: How'd you come up with your latest album title, Take It All Away? What is it referring to and what are your favorite tracks?
Ryan Cabrera: The title is about all the people who are so quick to judge things and tear everything down but can't even do it themselves! They are just standing watching, instead of actually doing anything! Some of my favorite tracks are Hit Me With Your Light, Find Your Way and It's You.
Sindy: How is this album different from your debut album, Elm Street?
Ryan Cabrera: I think my music has grown up a lot since the last record in that it's more classy and soulful.
Sindy: Do you write most of your songs? Where do you get your inspiration from?
Ryan Cabrera: I write all my songs. Inspiration comes from anything that is going on in my life at that time - whether it be relationships, past and new, God, nature and life!
Sindy: Growing up, who were your musical influences?
Ryan Cabrera: I grew up listening to anything from Green Day to Dave Matthews to The Police.
Sindy: Who are your favorite singers today? And who have you most enjoyed working with?
Ryan Cabrera: I love Damien Rice, Donny Hathaway, Bill Withers. I loved working with John Rzeznik cuz he is a brilliant cat!
Sindy: Have you always believed that music was your calling?
Ryan Cabrera: I definitely believe that everything happens for a reason and in one way or another, we will find where God wants us to be.
Sindy: Back in the day, you were part of the bands, Caine and Rubix Groove. Were they valuable experiences to your musical career?
Ryan Cabrera: Every experience helps you to grow to where you are in life. I needed all those experiences to help me now - it prepares you for the insanity that is the biz.
Sindy: Are you excited about your new MTV music/dating show, Score?
Ryan Cabrera: I am definitely pumped for everyone to see the MTV show. I spent so much time making the show and it is something I am definitely proud of. It's got so many elements that are fun to watch.
Sindy: Seems like a lot of singers are doing reality shows, but what made you decide to take it on?
Ryan Cabrera: Because it's a show that shows songwriting and music - the second I heard that those two parts were the core of the show, I was in!
Sindy: Any plans to step into the acting industry in the future?
Ryan Cabrera: Ya know I love to entertain, so when I have a sec to settle down after I go on tour for awhile, I might have to dip my head into some acting.
