The votes have been tallied and Taylor Hicks has walked away as the fifth American Idol, beating out fellow hopeful, Katherine McPhee. Taylor walked away with a recording contract and a brand-new Ford Mustang.

In a not-so-shocking season finale, Mischa Barton's character, Marissa Cooper, was killed on The O.C. Rumors have been circulating that Mischa was desperate to get out of her contract and her on-screen death was confirmed by Mischa herself on Access Hollywood, just days before the finale aired.

Ashlee Simpson is the latest celebrity to undergo plastic surgery by getting a nose job. Her reps have confirmed the surgery, but Ashlee has refused to talk about it with the press. Interestingly, just a year ago, Ashlee Simpson was quoted in Allure magazine as saying, "I'm so glad I didn't (get a nose job). I love my nose. I think it has character."

Jessica Simpson's best friend, Cacee Cobb, has quit her position as Jessica's personal assistant. Cacee, who held the personal assistant job for two years, was often featured in Jessica's MTV reality show, Newlyweds?.

Jessica Alba will host the 2006 MTV Movie Awards which will air on June 8, 2006.

Christina Aguilera is back in studios working on her latest disc, Back to Basics, which will feature retro-jazz tunes. The new CD, the first since the release of Stripped in 2002, should be in stores by August 2006.
