Well, argyle has been edged to the back of the closet by prints like plaid and camouflage, which aren't the least bit nerdy. The layered look is still in, but keep yourself looking a little more lean and a little less bulky.

You can't go back to school without a new pair of jeans. If you want to be the trendiest dude in class, get a pair of skinny jeans - they've replaced last year's low-rise. But if you want to be the most comfortable, go for a baggier fit. We're not talking so big and baggy that you can fit your two best buddies in there with you, but a relaxed boot cut is a good choice. Another must-have are cargo pants. They're cool, casual and come with so many pockets that you may not even need a backpack for all those pens, pencils and erasers.

Girls have bags and jewelry; guys have hats and belts! Make these accessories stand out by getting 'em in funky patterns. And make a bold mark by wearing old-school canvas sneakers in bright colors. You don't have to stick to athletic brands like Puma and Adidas, cuz stores like Old Navy, the Gap and American Eagle carry their own line of retro kicks as well.
