Growing Up

Timmy Reyes grew up in Southern California where he was just a stone's thrown away from the beach. He started surfing when he was just five years old. It started off as a weekend hobby, but by the time he was 12, Timmy was on his board 24/7. As a 12 year-old, he entered his first NSSA amateur contest where he took second. As a teenager, he kept improving. He surfed some of Southern Cali's best beaches from River Jetties to Newport Beach. Although he started taking surfing more and more seriously, he lived a regular life. Unlike a lot of young pro surfers, Timmy wasn't home schooled and didn't compete in tournaments year round. He attended a regular high school and lived a normal childhood.

Career

After a storybook amateur career, Timmy had no problems transitioning into the professional ranks. Timmy has been competing as a pro surfer since 2000, but his best year came in 2006. At the '06 X Games, he won the Best Maneuver and also posted the highest total score of the competition. That year, he also placed third in the WCT Rip Curl Pro. Some of his other career highlights include reaching the semi-finals at the 2007 Reef Haleiwa Pro in 12-foot surf, and making the quarterfinals at the 2007 O'Neill World Cup.

Riding Style

Timmy is one of the strongest surfers on the circuit today. No wave is too big or powerful for this warrior. Timmy is known to have a lot of guts as well. He is not scared to try new tricks and he is famous for his quick thinking and improvisation. Many experts believe Timmy hasn't even scratched the surface yet and has unlimited potential. There is no doubt, Timmy Reyes is a superstar in the making!
