What a Girl Wants stars Amanda Bynes as Daphne Reynolds. Daphne's spent her whole life with her musician mom, Libby, but no dad. All she knows is her dad, Henry Dashwood, is a British Lord who doesn't know she exists. Daphne has wanted to meet her dad her whole life, so at the age of 17, she takes off to London, England and tracks him down. He's a stuffy, uptight dude (played by Colin Firth) who has been made into an even stuffier and more uptight dude, thanks to his snotty fiancee and her bratty daughter. The movie is kinda typical and has an overly perfect ending, but it also has some fun moments, thanks to Bynes and Firth, and a great soundtrack. The goofiness of Daphne, the inner sweetness of Henry, as well as the cuteness of Ian (played by Oliver James III), make up for the film's cheesiness. Besides, who doesn't need a little cheese every now and then? What a Girl Wants Rating:
