Superhero time! The Fantastic Four and Batman are hitting theaters with their new movies and Upper Deck has just dropped new Batman and Fantastic Four starter decks for the Vs. System card game of superhero combat. Here's our review of these new decks.

Vs. System: Batman Starter Deck Breakdown

This deck gives you two 26-card decks so you can battle Batman and his buddies against Ra's Al Ghul and his minions. It also has some simple instructions so beginner players can learn to play. Both decks are all about causing serious damage with Batman, Robin, Catwoman and more of your fave comic book characters so it's perfect for high-energy duels!

Batman Starter Deck Thumbs Up:

  • Lots of attack combos.
  • Super easy to learn to play.
  • Cheap, it's only $10.
  • Batman rules. He just does.
  • Batman Starter Deck Thumbs Down:

  • The Batman deck creams the Ra's Al Ghul deck.
  • Ra's Al Ghul's power is weak against Batman.
  • Batman Starter Deck Rating:

Vs. System: Fantastic Four Starter Deck 411

You get two small decks to duel with, just like in the Batman starter, including the simple instructions for new players. But, these decks are the Fantastic Four vs. Victor Von Doom - just like in the movie! Both decks are big on teamwork, but Dr. Doom has the edge in sheer kick-your-buttness until the Thing shows up for some late-game clobberin' time.

Fantastic Four Starter Deck Thumbs Up:

  • Great for stretching your strategy muscles.
  • Super easy to learn to play.
  • Cheap, it's only $10.
  • Fantastic Four Starter Deck Thumbs Down:

  • The Fantastic Four aren't as cool as Batman.
  • The decks are defensive, which isn't as fun as super-strong attack decks.
  • Batman Starter Deck Rating:

Batman and Fantastic Four Starter Deck Summary

If you're a comic book fan, these decks are a great way to start playing the best comic-book card game in the world. They even have original art and are great for just collecting. More of the super-strong cards like Savage Beatdown and Fizzle would have made these decks useful for hardcore Vs. System duelists though.
