Dreamgirls and Charlotte's Web Soundtrack Reviews

The Christmas season means good friends, good food and a bunch of cool new movies! We take a look at some of the newest soundtracks to hit the shelves: Dreamgirls and Charlotte's Web.

Dreamgirls Soundtrack

The movie Dreamgirls is a musical so its success or failure weighs pretty heavily on having a good soundtrack. The near-deafening Oscar buzz surrounding this flick stands as a testament to what a killer soundtrack it has. American Idol's Jennifer Hudson steals both the film and the soundtrack and Beyonce Knowles' consistently delivers the goods, for her part. This is a must-have album for any Dreamgirls fan.

Charlotte's Web Soundtrack

The Charlotte's Web soundtrack successfully seeks to reflect the simple, rustic vibe of the motion picture. Highlights include Sarah McLachlan's Ordinary Miracle, as well as songs from Amy Grant and Billy Ray Cyrus. The original score is fairly quiet and reflective, rather than music to shake your booty to. It's sweet, simple and thoughtful. Just like Wilbur himself.

  • Ordinary Miracle was written by Glen Ballard and David Stewart of The Eurythmics.

It's the complete physiological equivalent of fear and rage. All the tonic effects of murdering Desdemona and being murdered by Othello, without any of the inconvenience.'But I like the inconveniences.'We don't,' said the Controller. 'We prefer to do things comfortably.'But I don't want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want sin.'In fact,' said Mustapha Mond, 'you're claiming the right to be unhappy. Not to mention the right to grow old and ugly and impotent; the right to have ######## and cancer, the right to have too little to eat; the right to be lousy; the right to live in constant apprehension of what may happen tomorrow; the right to catch typhoid; the right to be tortured by unspeakable pains of every kind.' There was a long silence.I claim them all,' said the Savage at last.Mustapha Mond shrugged his shoulders. 'You're welcome,' he said.”  I freaking LOVE Brave New World! It's one of the best books I've ever read, and that conversation between the Controller and John is my favorite part  [s:sm3/1jw1]
