Most Anticipated Summer Movies of 2008

Apr 16, 2008

Hollywood has a huge line-up of Summer Blockbusters ready to go, but what are the films everyone is dying to see? Kidzworld has the answer.

#5. WALL●E

On June 27, 2008 the geniuses who brought you The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Finding Nemo comes the latest animated blockbuster, WALL●E. In the film, mankind leaves earth and one last robot, WALL●E, behind. Designed to clean up, WALL●E, wanders around the empty earth, but gets lonely. That is until Eve, a shiny search robot shows up. Eve realizes that WALL●E has accidentally found the secret to Earth’s future and races back to tell the humans. Of course, WALL●E follows, and what happens next is full of action, humor, and heart. Pixar knows how to make an animated blockbuster hit, and we're sure WALL●E will mean big bucks at the box-office.

#4. Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

On May 16, 2008 the Pevensie siblings journey back to Narnia to find that while one year has passed in their world, over 1300 years have gone by in Narnia. While they were gone, the golden age of Narnia became extinct, and conquered by the Telemarines and the Evil King Miraz. The children meet Prince Caspian, rightful heir to the throne, and with the help of Dwarfs, a talking badger, and a mouse named Reepicheep, the Kings and Queens of Narnia set out to find Aslan and rescue Narnia from evil. Like The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, Prince Caspian is sure to have amazing special effects, and incredible mythical creatures, and killer battle scenes.

#3. Iron Man

On May 2, 2008 the first of many comic-inspired movie hits the big-screen this year. Robert Downey Jr. plays Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, he creates a high-tech suit of armor and escapes. Now, as superhero Iron Man, Stark uncovers an evil plot that threatens the safety of the world, and he vows to protect us all against evil, like any great comic book hero would. With The Dark Knight, and The Incredible Hulk following its release, Iron Man will probably be the perfect appetizer for a feast of action packed comic book flicks this summer.

#2. The Dark Knight

Batman Begins started the Batman movie franchise from scratch with a way cooler, darker feel than that catastrophe known as Batman and Robin. Now comes the next installment, The Dark Knight, on July 18, 2008, where Batman/Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) has been making headway in his fight against crime with the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, until the Joker shows up and unleashes a reign of terror across Gotham City. Heath Ledger passed away this year, and by all accounts his performance as the Joker will amaze audiences everywhere. This movie will be huge!

#1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Mark May 22, 2008 on your calendar, because it's the day when everyone's favorite archaeologist / action superstar hits the big screen after a 19 year break. Harrison Ford is back as Indy, and now he has Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) as a sidekick in their quest to find the Crystal Skull, an ancient artifact with supernatural powers and origins, and keep it out of evil Soviet hands. The story has been a heavily guarded secret during filming, but The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is guaranteed to be action packed, funny, and the must-see movie of the summer. Who doesn't want to see Indiana Jones crack that whip again, right?
