Peanut Power

Lots of kids – and people in general – are allergic to peanuts. But one group of kids with peanut allergies seem to have been cured after doctors tried out a new treatment on them.

Four kids with nut allergies were given a small amount of peanut flour to eat every day. Doctors slowly increased the amount over six months so they became less sensitive to the nuts, and in the end were eating five a day.

But if you are allergic to peanuts, don't try to do this yourself. The research was carried out by medical experts, and if you have an allergy to them it would be very dangerous to try to eat them on your own.

Doctors say they've got to carry out more tests to find out if they've really found a cure for the allergy.

I just don't enjoy anything I used to. My mum does know but she says it's a phase. It isn't. I just started high school, but I don't have any new friends yet and all the popular girls pick on me and call me a loner :-( I hate school. I like the actual lessons but I don't like the social side of it. There are lots of clubs on at lunch that I want to go to but I'm too scared to go to any. I have been to one , science club but everyone was staring at me the whole time (I don't know why, and frankly I don't care, I just want them not to). Any advice would be appreciated. It really does help to talk to someone (teacher, parent, counselor, or another trusted adult) about it. If you tell someone what you've written here I'm sure someone will help you.  As for the clubs, you really just gotta go for it. Things are always going to be scary at first but it will get better the more you get into it. And obviously being in a club should help make friends. I hope what I've said is even a little bit helpful! :)
