Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy: GBA Video Game Review

We review the new Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy video game for the Nintendo GBA.

The new Yu-Gi-Oh! video game is here for the Nintendo Gameboy Advance! It's Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy and it lets you jump into the dueling action of the new Yu-Gi-Oh! GX cartoon TV show and duel your way to becoming the King of Games! Here's our review.

Dueling 101 in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy

In this Yu-Gi-Oh! game you're the newest student at the Duel Academy and you join Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and the rest of the Slifer Red dorm at the start of the dueling year. It's up to you to practice your dueling skills, strengthen your deck with more cards, and pass skill-testing quizzes. You can also trade cards and duel with friends by using a GBA link cable!

A+ Dueling in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy

The nicest part about this Yu-Gi-Oh! game is that it's a lot easier to get extra cards! Plus, there's a cool schedule you can use to plan your duels at Duel Academy, and you can email other duelists when you want to duel against them. The skill-testing quizzes are also a great way to prove your Yu-Gi-Oh! mastery.

Flunking out of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy

The biggest pain in the butt with this game is that, unless you know how to play the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, it takes a while to learn to duel properly. Be prepared to get clobbered by your opponents for a while. There's a tutorial to teach you how to play, but it's about as exciting as dry toast.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Duel Academy Final Grade

If you're new to Yu-Gi-Oh!, this game is a bit hard to get started with. You should go play the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game with some friends first. For Yu-Gi-Oh! fans, this is a great new game that has solid options for speeding up duels, collecting lots of cards, exploring the Duel Academy, and testing your Yu-Gi-Oh! knowledge!
