Definitely. I remember reading something about it actually. There've been studies done where they've tried brain mapping and have found that people who identify as transgender more often than not have similar results as someone who was born assigned with the gender that person identifies with. They've also found other "abnormalities" which would point to the notion that other genders exist, somewhere mixed in between or completely different. Regardless of the science behind it, I think respecting someone is most important anyway. If someone identifies as something else, they're expressing who they are and we all deserve to be treated equally despite our differences. I haven't been out to many people yet, but I'm thankful the people of whom I've talked to are accepting and try to be understanding.
