Dealing With Dandruff

What Is It?
Dandruff is a mix of dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. At the base of each hair on your head, you have glands which release oil. Sometimes they release too much. It mixes with the dead skin on your head and the dirt in the air. Eventually this mix breaks off in white clumps and falls off your head in white flakes. That's kinda gross - especially when everytime you shake your head, your friends think they're at a Colorado Ski Resort.
How to Treat It
A little dandruff is pretty normal for everyone. You can get rid of it by just brushing it off or washing your hair more often. If that doesn't work, there are special shampoos you can get as well, like Head & Shoulders. And if that still doesn't do the trick, just shave your head! Yeah, that's it - go bald. Aliens go bald and so do tons of basketball players - so why not try it too? Or if it gets really bad, you could just shake it all off, then have dandruff ball fights with your friends.

If your dandruff problem actually gets to the point where you can go snowboarding in your flakes, go see your doctor. Just remember, every one gets a little dandruff, so you shouldn't stress too much.
