Duel Masters: Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures Review
Courtesy of WizardsGiant monsters are evolving their way into even bigger beasts in the new Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures expansion set for the Duel Masters card game! Packed with 60 new cards to collect and duel with, you'll be able to unleash clones, avatars and more with these cards. Here's the scoop on what's in the set with Gary's card game review.
Duel Masters - Clones, Evolved Beasts and More New Cards!
The
Shockwaves of the Shattered Rainbow brought
multicolored monsters to
Duel Masters and there are tons more in this set! Plus,
clone cards and
Vortex Evolution monsters. Here's the 411 on what's new.
Vortex Evolution - Evolve two creatures into one giant beast with these cards! They're hard to use, but split back into the original two monsters if they're destroyed.
Clone Cards - These cards have a power you can use once, plus once more for each copy of the card in any Graveyard.
Evolution Commanders - Evolve one of these monsters to power up all the creatures they can evolve from. And, they evolve from two types of creatures for double the fun!
Duel Masters - Evolving Your Way to Victory
One sweet fact about the
Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures set for
Duel Masters is that none of the cards cost a lot of
Mana to play! This lets you pack 'em into nearly any
deck easily. There are also a whole bunch of powerful
multicolored cards. Clone cards are solid if you can pack your
deck full of them and evolution commanders are great for boosting
theme decks, like Gary's
Veggie Revenge deck! Finally,
Vortex Evolution cards will blast your opponent into next week's
math class if you can make 'em work!
Duel Masters - Misshapen Mutants and Half-Baked Clones
As cool as
Vortex Evolution cards are, they're
hard to use and you basically lose a creature when you play them! Clone cards can bite you in the
butt if your opponent is using them, cuz they power-up from any Graveyard, not just yours. And, finally,
evolution commander cards are powerful, but it's hard to keep more than one or two creatures alive so their
power-up doesn't work very well.
Duel Masters - Awesome or Awful Multicolored Hybrid Clones?
Most of the cards in this set are
solid and will work in all kinds of
decks, but the cool cards are hard to use.
Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures does add more
multicolored creatures though, and none of the cards cost too much
Mana. That helps it kick butt, just like the
awesome artwork on all the cards!
Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures Thumbs Up:
Lots of cheap cards.
More clone cards = more power.
Incredibly powerful Vortex Evolution cards!
Evolution commanders power-up themed decks.
Thrash of the Hybrid Megacreatures Thumbs Down:
Hard to use Vortex Evolution cards.
