The 2001 Teen Choice Awards kicked off August 12th at LA's Universal Amphitheater. The 2001 Teen Choice Awards is a show that recognizes the contribution of actors and actresses, musicians and athletes and is voted on by you the teens. The show will air Monday, August 20, 2001 at 8PM ET on Fox. Here's a look at who you can expect to see...
On the music front, some of the artists who are presenting awards, performing or making an appearance include *NSYNC, Britney Spears, Eve and Gwen Stefani, Jessica Simpson, Nelly, Jennifer Lopez, Eden's Crush, Shaggy, Nick and Aaron Carter, Destiny's Child, Nivea, 3LW, Aerosmith, Blink-182, Usher and Madonna.
You can also expect to see some of the hottest young actors and actresses like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mila Kunis, Jessica Alba, Frankie Muniz, The Rock, Freddie Prinze Jr. and the young cast of Days of Our Lives.
I don't want to give any details away as to who gets the party started but I will tell ya that if you like the Moulin Rouge video and Lady Marmalade you are gonna LOVE the opening performance!
Some of the backstage stuff was very funny too. Shaggy was extremely funny and at one point some kid on a cell phone popped in the door of the press tent and said "Yo Shaggy give a shout out to my girl" and Shaggy yelled out "Hey my girl" and the guy got really excited. Destiny's Child came backstage and had everyone speculating about a new member. It turns out it wasn't a new member but in fact Beyonce's lil' sis, Soulange, who is also launching a singing career.
