True Life TV Show Facts

Since True Life began in 1998, the documentary series has featured stories on drug use, money issues, sexual topics and everyday issues like just not fitting in. Kidzworld takes a look back at some of our favorite True Life moments.

True Life - Series' Favorites

  • Serena Altschul - The first host of True Life.
  • Gideon Yago - Took over as host of True Life from Serena Altschul.
  • Stevie - The glam-rock loving high school student from the "I Don't Fit In" episode in season eight. His small town-angst was achingly familiar - as is his Gary Glitter-inspired wardrobe.
  • Amber - The weight-obsessed teen whose crash diet wasn't healthy - but still helped her win the title of Miss Teen Texas. The episode, titled I'm on a Diet, from season seven, left you wondering if her win was really worth the toll it took on her health and self-esteem.
  • Jon - The overweight kid with a heart of gold who struggles to pay the bills during his mother's illness in season five.
  • Jeanie - The dental hygienist/Anna Nicole Smith impersonator from season five.
